Overview

What is CREO?

CREO is a powerful 3D CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) software suite developed by PTC (Parametric Technology Corporation). It is widely used in mechanical engineering, product design, and manufacturing sectors for designing, modeling, simulation, and analysis.

CREO (formerly Pro/ENGINEER) is a parametric, feature-based CAD/CAE software used for creating 3D models, assemblies, and 2D drawings. It also supports advanced design tools like simulation, sheet metal, surfacing, and additive manufacturing.

CREO is known for:

  • High-level precision modeling

  • Powerful parametric and direct modeling
  • Integration with IoT (Internet of Things) and PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) tools

Uses and Purposes

  • 3D Solid Modeling – Create highly detailed mechanical parts and assemblies.
  • 2D Drawing & Drafting – Generate accurate technical drawings from models.
  • Assembly Design – Design complex multi-part mechanical assemblies.
  • Simulation & Analysis – Perform FEA (stress, thermal, motion) and CFD (fluid flow) simulations.
  • Sheet Metal Design – Create flat patterns and designs for sheet metal components.
  • Surface Modeling – Design complex curves and freeform shapes.
  • Manufacturing Integration – Use CAM features for CNC programming.
  • Generative Design – Optimize parts automatically based on loads and constraints.
  • Additive Manufacturing – Support for 3D printing workflows.
